Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Abandoned open pit with outcrops of Cretaceous sediments. Youngest Cretaceous deposits consist of dark grey calcareous claystones. They contain also two layers of calcareous sandstones with muscovite and debris of flora. Stratigraphically they belong to the Březno Formation (Coniacian). Stratigraphically important locality.
